A passerby came across the small animals on the morning of Monday, May 20, along Westhill Road in Aberdeenshire.

The Scottish SPCA is now seeking information from the public to locate the owners of the guinea pigs.

Scottish SPCA inspector, Fiona Mackenzie, reported: “We were alerted to three guinea pigs discovered dead inside a plastic bag near a bus shelter.

“One of the guinea pigs was entirely white, another was white with a black patch on its head, and the third was a mix of black, tan, and white.

“A post-mortem examination revealed that the guinea pigs had suffered from malnutrition.
