Motorist in Scotland Receives Fine for Careless Driving Following Major Roadside Collision

A Scottish driver was reportedly ticketed for ‘careless’ driving after crashing into the side of a busy road on Friday.

Police were alerted to an accident on Corstorphine Road around 4:45 pm on May 24, which caused significant delays and traffic disruption for numerous commuters.

Although no one was hurt in the two-car crash, one of the drivers received a citation from the police.

A photo shared with Edinburgh Live shows the front bumper of one car severely damaged, with police on the scene conducting investigations.

An eyewitness reported: “Police halted traffic heading into the city, causing a build-up. Officers were talking to individuals at the roadside. The car was severely wrecked. The front was completely crumpled and smashed.

“I really hope everyone involved was alright.”

EdinTravel noted on Friday evening: “Expect about a 10-minute delay for citybound traffic on St John’s Road/Corstorphine Road due to the traffic collision at the top of Balgreen Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “At approximately 4.45 pm on Friday, May 24, 2024, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh.

“No injuries were reported, and one individual was ticketed for careless driving.”
